In an increasingly digitized world, the digital divide between generations is a growing concern. As our services and communities migrate online, it becomes essential to ensure that no one is left behind on the journey to a digital future. King Communications is proud to introduce “Hi Digital,” a comprehensive course designed to empower individuals, particularly those aged 65 and above, in developing their digital skills.
Developed in partnership with the Vodafone Ireland Foundation and ALONE, “Hi Digital” is a step-by-step program that addresses the digital needs of those who have rarely or never ventured into the online world. This transformative course consists of bite-sized lessons centred around key digital themes, including the fundamentals of internet access and the utilization of online devices. Moreover, it provides an essential guide to applications and features that can enrich daily life and combat social isolation.
Participants in the “Hi Digital” program have the flexibility to work independently, alongside a mentor, or with assistance from family members, friends, or fellow community members. The program is designed to be completed over several weeks, ensuring that learners have ample time to grasp and apply the digital skills they acquire.
Vision and Mission
At King Communications, we believe that everyone has the right to a digital life—a life filled with comprehension and confidence to explore the boundless possibilities that the internet offers.
The mission of “Hi Digital” is to provide free access to essential tools for digital independence. We firmly believe that enhancing digital literacy can positively impact practical life and mental health. It opens doors to connect with vital services and fosters social engagement with friends and family.
We understand that a lack of internet access can be a significant barrier to acquiring digital skills. To address this issue, “Hi Digital” offers in-person training sessions in collaboration with the Irish Girl Guides at selected locations across the country. This initiative aims to bring digital education closer to those who need it most, ensuring that connectivity is not a hindrance to skill development.
